Summary:
According to Eddy Ramirez in his article “A tough test for second language students,” the students who comes from a foreign country has a difficult time getting a score. First, in a school which is in Fairfax country, a girl whose name is Carolina can’t speak English very well. Also she notices that she doesn’t understand shows. Next people who are studying English as second language can’t reach their goal, because they couldn’t pass the important test and the school has to improve these skills. So many students come from various countries can take the test from native speakers. But the teacher whose name is Betsy Walter said that we learned good things from their students. In the end, they changed the way they judge the student. In conclusion, the teacher judged the high score by using learning portfolios, so student can get more easily get a to good or fail score, but it depends on the language.
Reaction:
I think this article is right. Now I’m studying and learning in CESL, andit is is hard for me. Also to study math and science in English is hard. In CESL, the teachers judge us and give us extra credit like quiz and presentation and so on. It helps us to get a good score and improve what do we have to study at the collage or university in US. After I finish this term, I have to go back to Japan and graduate from the university. I plan to come back in the US and to continue to study, but I’m wondering if I can do it or not. Before, I already told you to study second language is too hard. However I like my major very much. However I like to study English, I hope I could study to come back to the US. If I came back, I'm reminded that I study in CESL. I think in CESL it is hard because one term is really short and every day we have to study new things. Also if I study hard, I could get a good score. I wish my TOEFL score would improve this semester.
